Gregory Brassil, Jewelry Designer and Platinumsmith
I grew up in Minneapolis, right here in the Linden Hills neighborhood where my studio is now. My jewelry career started in Iowa in 1978 when a friend showed me the basics. I jumped right in and I haven't looked back.
Subsequently I trained at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco and at the Gemological Institute of America. I lived and worked in the jewelry trade for twelve years in California before moving back to Minneapolis in 1992. I then opened my first retail custom design studio in 1993.
In 2010 I was joined by Soren Priede, another fine jewelry designer and in March 2011 we moved to our current location at 4305 Upton Ave S.
My greatest teacher has been and continues to be: Experience!
After 29 years I can easily say it is in the doing wherein lies true knowledge (and the confidence) of custom design. I find jewelry design very creatively stimulating and deeply satisfying.
But it's you, my very appreciated great clients that make it so much fun. Over the last 18 years it has been my privilege and honor to create thousands of custom jewelry pieces for you. Wow. That's a lot of rings!
Thank you all!
Gems and jewelry have a magical quality and I think we are often drawn to wear something beautiful and magnificent because it reminds us, in a way, of our own inner magnificence. I approach my work with that inspiration. I do get a lot of satisfaction merging my own sense of beauty with my technical skills to create a piece of jewelry that complements the unique needs and desires of each wearer.
I am always being inspired, and I am always learning.
stay sunny,
Gregory
